Sure Sign of Age: Cho Is Thrilled by Purchase of New Appliances
We went to Bray & Scarf! And ordered a new stove! Anna new dishwasher! They will show up on Wednesday!
> facepalm <
I am so easily amused.
We also went to Jaleo, and ate too much tapas and paella, and desserts that turned out to be gi-normous.
And then I went home and spent an hour messing about with digital photos. The effort to process the Scandanavia trip pix brought me face to face with the fact that I haven't uploaded anything to Flickr since Hanukkah except for the Katsucon pictures, even though I took pix at half a dozen family get-togethers. Given that the recording of family events was one of the main justifications for my spiffy big camera, this fill me with much guilt.

We do too, but it's usually so terribly crowded, so we don't go very often. We finished up at the appliance store a little before 6:00, so we decided it was worth a shot, and indeed, the place was still half empty (this was the Bethesda location).
I don't think we'd ever stayed there for dessert before. As the waitress said, "Our dishes are so small - I don't know why our desserts are so huge!" I had Espuma milk rice pudding with lemon marmalade, the Mr. had Apple charlotte with Pedro Ximénez & vanilla ice cream, and the Young Lady had Chocolate and hazelnut mousse torte.

I anticipate 4 actual working burners, which is more than I've had for a year now!

working appliances in general can be a cause for real celebration :D

The current dishwasher sort of works ... the time-release soap compartment is permanently open. The knob to activate it broke off and has to be re-inserted delicately every time and and held in place manually while turning it - it falls out the minute you let go. And the springs that allowed the door to open gently went south about 3 years ago. But ... .
Anyway, I will be very glad to see (and use) its successor!

But I tend to be a new towels and new sheets kind of gal rather than appliances. ;)

Oh, new linens are lovely and snuggly and happy-making. I got some big fluffy new bath sheets a few weeks ago - MMMmmmmm! But I can't do without a functioning stove (despite smilla's generous loan of supplementary small appliances), and the dishwasher has been driving me nuts for ages.

Heh - with our big discussion of various starchy/porridgy things, I can't say I'm too surprised! Especially since you haven't been feeling well - comfort food would be a natural consequence.

I grew up with gas, and electric drives me nuts because you can't bring something to a boil and then instantly drop it to a simmer. But I'm not going to worry about pulling the gas line over for the stove until we gut the whole kitchen (someday!).
Hope you got some rest this weekend!
